Okta for Data Authorization, Codified is a policy-based SaaS platform that enables you to govern your data across your Data Estate. 

Codified is a modern Data Authorization platform designed to secure company data by managing access through policies converted into English rules. It ingests an organization's data governance policies, translating them into rules that are applied to the data estate. Codified streamlines the data access process for apps and individuals in alignment with company rules and offers a workflow for access requests, which informs security teams about policy adjustments. 

Security teams have a clear record of all access attempts, aiding in regulatory compliance and enhancing security. It also reduces the workload on security personnel, allowing them to concentrate on critical issues rather than routine approval tasks. Additional features include a Risk Score for access requests, the ability to generate policies from existing data, an authorization graph, the detection of unauthorized changes, and integration with existing security systems for a comprehensive and user-friendly experience.

Role description

As an Applied Scientist with Codified, you will critically shape the efficacy and future of our data authorization engine. You will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies that enable organizations to manage access to their data more effectively and securely. You will lead our efforts to express data policy in natural language by both developing and honing the efficacy of our proprietary models. You will collaborate closely with other members of the technical team as we adapt and develop state-of-the-art research to meet the high-quality standards of our customers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research to enhance Codified's data authorization solution, leveraging your expertise in large-scale data systems to optimize performance and security.
  
• Develop and refine models that enable natural language-based data policy expressions, making data access management more accessible for a broad range of users.
  
• Develop and refine data classification models that help Codified, and users, understand data sensitivity.
  
• Work closely with our technical team, as well as collaborate with external partners, to ensure the successful implementation of data authorization solutions for Codified's clients.
  
• Design and execute experiments to validate the effectiveness of Codified's data authorization solution, making data-driven improvements where necessary.
  
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data management and security, bringing innovative ideas to the leadership team and advising them on how Codified can maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly-changing technology landscape.
  

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in large-scale data systems, data management, and data security. Ability to mine and explore data using traditional training and analyzing methods.
  
• Experience in developing and implementing machine learning and natural language processing algorithms.
  
• Strong programming skills and direct experience contributing to production code.
  
• Intense intellectual curiosity about emerging technologies, including Large-Language Models (LLMs.) Strong preference for applicants who have experimented with LLMs through application toolkits, such as langchain, llama-index, auto-gpt, autogen, or similar platforms, and are comfortable fine-tuning them.
  
• Familiarity with the enterprise data governance workflow and experience contributing to access and management or authorization solutions.
  
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner for a non-technical audience.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, or a similar field. Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, or a similar field is preferred but not required.
