Madrona Venture Labs is the startup studio and incubation arm of Madrona Venture Group--the leading venture capital firm in the PNW. Together, we partner with founders from day one to build venture-scale companies focused on AI-driven applications, automation, digital transformation of consumer experiences, and the future of work. 

This Stealth New Company is a new enterprise startup formed out of Madrona Venture Labs offering native training and digital adoption for PLG companies. The product is starting from scratch, and this technical leader will have a seat at the table to give it shape. The CTO will interact daily with the CEO in setting the product direction and executing on the plan, will know the ins and outs of B2B platform integrations, and will be in charge of scaling an engineering team that includes data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and Madrona Venture Labs on company-wide strategy and leadership
  • 10+ years of industry experience in enterprise software product engineering

  • Roll up their sleeves and write code, especially in the early days as the team is forming
  • Build, support, mentor, and grow a top-tier engineering organization
  • Lead and foster a culture with a bias for action, strategic ownership, and cross-functional collaboration down to the IC engineering level

Qualifications

  • A BS degree in Math, Computer Science, or related field

  • 10+ years of industry experience in enterprise software product engineering

  • Has managed engineers previously and is excited about recruiting, growing, and mentoring a team from scratch. Has collaborated closely with or has managed data scientists directly

  • Has delivered product-integrated SaaS solutions and has strong knowledge of Amazon and or Azure stack technologies

  • Willing and able to be hands-on and dive deep into technical problems, especially with TensorFlow or other ML-heavy tools and frameworks

  • Flexibility and a level of comfort with early-stage ambiguity

  • Effective communicator with the ability to distill complex concepts into easily digestible insights

  • Is located in or willing to move to the Seattle or Bay Area; open to US-based candidates operating out of Pacific Standard Time
