Role description

As the CTO, you will lead the technical vision of our organization. You will work with the executive team to define the product, establish technical milestones, and how to best foster and build our engineering team. In addition, you will be responsible for making sure we meet our goals around code quality, security, and development velocity. You will keep us on the right course over time, as timelines shift and new challenges arise, so we can continue delivering transformational solutions for healthcare organizations. 

While you will manage and work on technical strategy in this role, as part of a seed-stage startup, you should also expect to spend time with hands-on engineering work contributing directly to what we’re building.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and Madrona Venture Labs on company-wide strategy and leadership
  • Implement data transformations for healthcare enterprises
  • Roll up your sleeves and write code, especially in the early days as the team is forming
  • Build, support, mentor, and grow a top-tier engineering organization
  • Lead and foster a culture with a bias for action, strategic ownership, and cross-functional collaboration down to the IC engineering level
  • Provide investor and customer-facing support in communicating the technology vision and progress

Qualifications

  • A skilled engineering leader with a demonstrated history of developing and executing technical visions in partnership with executive leadership
  • Experience leading small-to-medium-sized software engineering teams and is excited about recruiting, growing, and mentoring a team from scratch. Experience collaborating closely with or managing data scientists directly
  • A BS degree in Math, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven industry experience in enterprise software product engineering. A background in data engineering is highly preferred but not required
  • Has a deep understanding of ETL, analysis, and data presentation. Familiar with multi-party data integrations and platforms such as Snowflake and Redshift. Experience with EHR systems and/or healthcare ERP systems is preferred but not required
  • Flexibility and a level of comfort with early-stage development ambiguity
  • Effective communicator with the ability to distill complex concepts into easily digestible insights
  • Deep passion for working with complex data flows. Prior experience in healthcare technology is not required
  • Is located in or willing to move to the Seattle area
